We created the minimal opening series just for that reason. To help you attract and keep high-end clients.

The Director 50 Series matches most 5” & 6” recessed lighting fixtures. With an optional square grille and matching in-ceiling sub, these loudspeakers are perfect for times when the client demands both high-end aesthetics and premium audio quality.

The patented Dual Plane Stabilized Diaphragm (DPSD™) Tweeter suspends the tweeter dome at multiple points, allowing it to be driven with more power for greater frequency response and wider dispersion.

Interchangeable, secure, elegant. This is the way in-ceiling loudspeakers are meant to be installed. The Director Minimal Opening Series utilizes our tool-less mounting system to provide a secure installation into any ceiling. You won’t need any tools once the hole is cut, just secure the ring and insert the loudspeaker. The spring-loaded clips and multiple points of contact ensure the weight is distributed more evenly than traditional dog-legs which eliminates warping of the baffle or drywall.

Pre-stressed woven glass fiber woofers, compression molded baskets, X-Wave™ Rubber Surround, DPSD™, Tool-Less Installation, and Low Profile Grilles – The Director 50 Series has all of the elements of the award-winning Director Collection.

Occasionally, there’s not enough space for two loudspeakers, but stereo is required. As music and movie lovers, we wanted to design a loudspeaker that doesn’t compromise with mono, regardless of constraints. The D57DT/SUR can produce stereo sound or simply improve the dispersion of a mono source. The choice is yours.

Choosing the right drivers is part of the blend of art and technology that creates Origin Acoustics‘ signature sound. The woofer cone in the D61 is made of Poly Rubber which offers low mass and durability. The silk dome tweeter pivots allowing the installer to direct the critical high frequencies toward the listening area.

While in motion, frequencies between 700-1,400 Hz typically run up the cone of a woofer and are reflected back and forth from the center of the driver. This creates unwanted harmonic distortion. The X-Wave surround found in Origin woofers absorbs these frequencies reducing distortion and maintaining driver stability. This design also maximizes cone area by reducing the width of the surround.

As the driver travels to the limits of its excursion, the suspension, made up of the spider and the surround, becomes more rigid, exerting more control on the movement of the cone. The result is increased, clean power output throughout the driver‘s frequency range.

Using time tested and true technique of compression molding, we are able to design and produce woofer baskets that are both highly stable and acoustically neutral. The end result is a reduction in distortion without coloration from the basket itself.

A paintable, perforated grille with a micro bezel covers the entire speaker assembly and leaves a discreet finished appearance. Its magnetic attachment makes removing or replacing the grille fast and easy.

With an IPX6 rating, the entire Director Collection is ready for installation into a wet environment, just add an EX Grille. This rating ensures that your loudspeakers are safe from the corrosion and internal damage commonly posed by exposure to ocean water and rainstorms. Spring-loaded clips also create more uniform pressure against the drywall eliminating any warping or distortion of the speaker baffle.

X-PAL™ tweeter with exclusive Perforated Phase-Aligning (PPA™) Tweeter Lens that protects the delicate pure-aluminum tweeter dome and acts as the Phase Plug, blocking out-of-phase frequencies for smoother, extended high frequencies with incredible detail and higher output.

Our tweeter designs are cooled by the original ultra-stable Ferrofluid, made exclusively by Ferrotec. Ferrofluid is a colloidal suspension of magnetic nano particles in a liquid carrier with low volatility and high thermal stability.

Reduced Edge Diffraction (RED™) Technology

RED™ Technology (patent pending) is a die-cast aluminum tweeter housing that significantly reduces negative effects of diffraction while improving critical midrange frequencies. The irregular edges and off-center placement break up standing waves typically found around the woofer cone and tweeter housing of traditional designs. Additionally, the aluminum structure dissipates unwanted heat which increases power handling and allows a lower crossover frequency, improving sound and reducing distortion.

Advanced Features for a Solid and Secure Installation

Die-cast aluminum chassis, baffles (in-wall models only), and clamps add strength and rigidity for better bass and midrange, along with a more durable installation.

Rear Component Shielding protects internal parts from debris. The translucent polycarbonate material creates an installation that will not warp. Flat covers also make it easy to lie speakers down during the installation process without tipping.

Pocketed screw holes help to hold the drill steady, making installation a snap.
