Lightweight Rigid Cellular Aramid Fiber Matrix Woofer

The main speaker diaphragm on the XS-680ES is crafted from Sony's unique Lightweight Rigid Cellular material, formerly known as MRC. The latest generation compound has been further optimized alongside mechanical driver improvements, to deliver an even wider frequency response and smoother, more natural sound characteristics.

Embedding in a unique matrix with aramid fibers suppresses diaphragm resonance and minimizes distortion, not only in the lows, but also in the mid and higher frequencies. The result is sound that is powerful at all frequencies and uncommonly clean, even at high volume.

The woofer surround features another proprietary Sony technology, with distinctive curved notches improving the vertical amplitude symmetry, for dramatically reduced distortion and enhanced clarity.

Five-beam Frame Structure & Dynamic Air Diffuser

The Five-beam Frame design disperses resonance while the integrated Dynamic Air Diffuser ensures efficient air circulation for smooth cone travel and cooling of the voice coil.

The acoustically-optimised spider allows for higher power handling and airflow, with a profile designed for more rapid and precise cushioning of the speaker cone.

Compatible with High-Resolution Audio, a soft dome tweeter diaphragm is directly attached on the voice coil, designed to cover your music's ultra-high ends, with a frequency range extending up to 40kHz.

Hertz Cento 5" x 7" Coaxial Speaker

The Cento two-way coaxials CX 570 features the new 24 mm (0.9 in.) Tetolon® dome tweeter that delivers a more musical and detailed sound compared to the more traditional plastic materials. The dispersion has been optimized for off-axis listening. The  SPP-M cone (Semi Pressed Paper-Mica) ensuring superior acoustic and damping characteristics.

1. Soft Tetolon® fiber 24 mm (0.9 in.) dome tweeter and 20 mm (0.8 in.) mobile coil cooled with ferrofluid, for extended and natural high frequencies.

2. RHFC ™ (Rotary High Frequency Contour) directable tweeter for optimal off-axis frequency response and dispersion on the listening point.

3. Adjustable high frequency system for perfect frequency response to any listening point.

4. Tweeter faceplate geometry optimized with FEM simulations (Finite Element Modeling), to provide an extremely linear frequency response in off-axis installations.

5. 25 mm (1 in.) woofer voice coil featuring an aluminum former to guarantee high excursion and power handling.

6. 5×7 in. semi-pressed paper cone SPP-M (Semi Pressed Paper-Mica) enhanced with Mica powder for an excellent balance between lightness and damping.

7. High-density flux ferrite magnet combined with low-carbon polar plates for reduced distortion at high power levels.

8. Compact and transparent four-spoke basket acoustically combined with a rubber magnet cover for total damping of spurious vibrations.
